On Way to Goat Lake -- August 9-19, 2008

Started out fine. Cool, easy trail. It would eventually go down (seemingly) forever, just so that it could turn around again and go back up forever. Bah humbug!

We decided (stupidly, in retrospect) to reconiter a small lake called, oddly enough, Little Redfish Lake. Well, after about 500 feet or so of climbing we discovered that there was little left of this lake except lily pads!

Well, at least the goats were happy. What a banquet!

June Heise, super-hiker!

Well, there's the lake. Where? Well, out there somewhere. In reality, it was mostly grass & lily pads. I'm outta here!

This view gives you some indication of why it is called the White Clouds!

The goats contemplating this 'bridge'

In spite of the fact that 'mtn goat' is supposed to be in their heritage, it took some healthy coaxing to get some of them across this bridge. In reality it was a super piece of cake. All they said after crossing is, 'I'm glad that's over with.' Sorry, but get used to disappointment! We gotta cross it again on the return trip.

Waterfall just before we leave the trail to bushwhack to Goat Lake. We missed the easier way into this area. Dang!
