From Scenic Lake, to Lake 8375
From Scenic Lake we motored down the trail to about the 8000 foot level, then turned north, and started the 550 foot climb to Lake 8850. Beautiful it was, and a great
place to camp. The fish were rising, but so was the sky. After about 3 seconds of thinking, decided that this was not a good place to spend a night with thunderstorms, so we continued on.

And the fields are still alive! They all were ablaze with color.

Everywhere you looked there were lava plumes in the mountain superstructure

Long... and deep.

Cocoa-Brownie managed to sneak into this one. He's such a ham!

Another drainage. Could'a come up this one... slightly shorter, but still a grunt.

A distinctive volcanic plug

Time to move on... dang!

Disappearing in the rear view mirror...

And on to Lake 9150, and the top of the ridge...

Due to its altitude, this one still had a snowbank hanging on. A very deep snowbank.

Serious doubts that this one will disappear before the snow flies

On to Lake 8380

These red flowers are striking

See those innocent cumulus clouds in the background? They will deliver a knockout blow later this evening. It was a grand pyrotechnics display. One I would have rather seen from about 50 miles away. Not underneath.

A pretty lake, lots of small streams flowing in, but no fish. Too shallow, I suppose.

And finally the campspot, Lake 8375

A gorgeous waterfall, but emphasizing the small difference in altitude between these two lakes. About 5-10 feet.

Ahhh, and there are those benign, friendly looking clouds again... uh huh.

Looking back from the Northeast end. Another sterile lake as well. No fish!
