The Eagle Cap Wilderness! The Best of the Best!
Minam Lake

Minam Lake is an anachroism. It is certainly pretty on first look, but when you become aware that the original lake was dammed on its south end, in order
to allow for the use of this water as irrigation, then dammed on its north end as after the south damming, all the 'dammed' water flowed out into the Lostine
River, preventing its use as an irrigation source. Apparently they then said, to heck with it, and it became just another back country resource
available to hikers, but not much else. It is certainly pretty, but the dams on both ends certainly detract from the charm. Whatever there was...

In the morning, it became obvious that there were a wealth of locals on the opposite hill just waiting to be discovered. We spent some time observering their movements and eventual departure.

The aquamarine color of this water never ceases to intrigue me!!
