Seven Devils, Day 8
From Upper Hanson Lake, we began our most challenging effort ever. All off-trail, about 700 feet up to the top of the ridge between Hanson Lakes & Cannon Lakes, then
800 feet down a very steep drainage to Upper Cannon Lake. One of the most beautiful in the 'Devils'. Lunch, then down another 800 foot and equally steep slope to
lower Cannon Lake. Overnight there, then walk out the next day to the Windy Saddle Trailhead. A complete loop!

Morning, at Upper Hanson Lake

Great reflections again!

Looking down at Lower Hanson Lake as we begin our climb to the top of the pass.

And now looking up!

Upper Hanson Lake from on high!

The upper end of the cirque.

Climbing up to the pass.

The meadow at the top of the pass. It was quite unique and pretty.

Starting down towards the precipice at the end of that little meadow.

More Gentian.

First view of Upper Cannon, and its upper pothole lake.

One of the more beautiful floral arrays clinging to life amoung the rocks.

This was a choke point for my goats. It was a lot more threatening/difficult than it looks, and I had to lead two of my goats down this chute before the other two resigned t hemselves to the inevitability of having to negiotiate this narrows. If they had not had all the stuff on their backs, they probably would not have been so reluctant. However, they are a lot more cautious when loaded.

Dang I'm thirsty. That descent was a bugger.

Upper Cannon Lake. A real beauty.

As is obvious, not much beyond the outlet except 'down'.

Ezra wonders why we don't stop and rest right here!

The outlet, more 'up close and personal'.

One last look back...

Down into the abyss...

Lower Cannon Lake.

Now, wouldn't that be a nice place for a delightful concussion??
