Vanity Lakes, the Second Day!

Next morning. The boys are doing their best to avoid thinking about what is ahead!

A last look at lake 8212

Lake 8050 actually consists of two lakes, a large and profoundly unphotogenic one, and a small 'tag line lake' on the southwest end. This, the small part, is extremely beautiful with its aqua hue, and the morning reflections.

Lake 7982 from above. We'll get a lot closer on the way back out of the next drainage.

The worker bees!

'Lunch lake', or in reality, Lake 7905. Where we 'lunched' after rounding the very steep and challenging east-west ridge between the drainages.

Didn't bring a lunch, but a rest break is always good!

for Coffee Bean, the Smorgasbord never ends!

Rounding the end of Lake 7905 on the way to Lake 8079.

Lake 8079, and a rather attractive waterfall at its end. Wonder what is up at the top?

Partner liked this snow sculpture. A spider maybe? Or whatever you want to make it.

West end of Lake 7975. This was one of the prettiest lakes in this group, and a very obvious fishery.

The lake's refections were spendiferous!

On a rock, and looking for the next challenge, following his primary mandate that, every rock of size MUST be climbed!

No point. Just another pretty rock.

Over the scree and up the ridge, to Lake 7962 (what we called 'Horseshoe Lake') we go.

I liked this grass tuft attempting to make a beachhead on this almost completely waterlogged drift.

Around 7963, and on up to Lake 8240

The waterfall on the way up to Lake 8040 was beautiful... the hike was an unadulterated grunt. Theoretically it was only about 250 feet, but coming at the end of a long day, it was a very difficult last step. Incidentally, the beautiful little plant at the left in this picture is Corn Lilly... poisonous to goats.

Lake 8040

Isn't overly obvious here, but the weather is working up to crabby. Didn't get particularly 'hairy' however, until the night after next.
