Camped overnight in one of the Bear Valley's most primo campspots

Always been a sucker for flower pictures... there's good, and there's better!

Lookin back at the campsite

Maxie's still searching for 'critters'

As is obvious from this picture, the Bear Valley & environs is largely burned. Wouldn't take much to erase the trees altogether.

Elk Creek. A pretty much creek like many others in Idaho, but this one still has salmon runs. Incomprehensible that a salmon would come this far just to keep the species going.

Looking towards Elk Creek from the campsite.
This is what most of the hiking consisted of. Not exactly 'primo' hiking!

Looking back on where we started. Elk Creek and the Bear Valley, a small part of it.

A wildflower presumably hanging its head at the thought of so much burn, so few trees.

A look back at the Elk Creek valley and the immensity of the burn area.

Bernard Lake, but with a 'Bank'! I'd never seen that before!
