Day 5!
Hiking plan for today is the most ambitious to date. From Little Frazier we are going up a drainage that leads
to Prospect Lake, then over a small ridge and down to Glacier Lake, up over Glacier Pass and down to Moccasin
Lake, on past Mirror Lake, and begin the long trek back down to the Two
Pan Trailhead.

The drainage up to Prospect goes up 900' in 0.7 mile. I remember thinking about halfway up, 'What was I thinking?'
But perseverance always wins, and eventually we made it up to Prospect and one of the most scenic lakes in the
Eagle Cap, second only to Pocket Lake.

Arriving at Prospect was a mixed blessing. A OD on scenic, but the wind was blowing hurricane
force. By the time we got over the ridge above Glacier, it was blowing in the neighborhood of 40-50
knots. Fortunately, at Glacier lake level, the wind turned out to be relatively calm.

I know that these are relatively the same pictures, but the one on the right shows more clearly the degree to which this lake has filled in with sediment.

From the bottom, this looked like the top... turned out to be only about halfway up. Booo!

Just below the outlet of Prospect Lake

Prospect Lake

Looking down on Glacier. What appears to be two lakes in the foreground are actual one lake, basically a glacial pothole and above Glacier Lake level

Around on the north side of Glacier

Moccasin Lake, as is the previous

Moccasin Lake from above, on the way to Mirror Lake

Mirror Lake, east end.

Long valley leading to the really serious descent towards Two Pan trailhead

Looking back at the Eagle Cap itself. Many of the folks that come to this area are dying to climb to the top. Just doesn't interest me. I love lakes.

Ezra says, "Can we go home now??"
