Day 2
Fueled with the expectations of making it into the Edna basin and the other lakes there we motor off with great expectations. What we had cleverly overlooked is that
Farley Lake was 7745', and Edith was 8665'. And before we would arrive at the top of pass into the Ten Lake Basin, we would have transit over 9400' It was a real
unadulterated grunt. Then down to 8400', and up to 8460' at Vernon Lake. Whew!!

1st Nights Campspot, 7AM

Edith Lake, not a spectacular specimen, but lonely. Each place has its own rewards

Edith from above, and on the way to the top of the pass, distant, top right

Looks like the top, eh? Ha! Fooled you, a false summit. A lot further left to go
Looking back down into the Stanley Basin. Shows how far we've already come. That's Yellowbelly in the distance.

A expansion of the previous picture. Farley is closest, then Yellowbelly

This one is pretty much the summit, now quite a ways down to the 'Y' in the trail, then the Ten Lakes Basin and Edna

Looking down on a no-name lake on the way to Edna

The trail basically winds down a number of switchbacks, the down the bottom of this drainage.

The eventual 'Y'. One direction to Toxaway, one to Edna & the S. Fork Payette River trail, and the other back the way we came to Edith & Farley.

Down to Edna

No-Name again.

The trail crew. Ezra is so far back donw the trail that you cannot see him in this picture

Mocha is just 'practicing'. He'll actually get a load next year.

Here comes Ezra. Next year he is going to be tied to one of the 'performing' goats.

Edna Lake. The bloody sky was white like this all day. Around 6PM it almost instantaneously cleared up. Hmmm... I think the chemtrail boys are at it again.

Mocha has decided that the browse is better at Edna Lake!

Edna from the East side as we circle around on the way to Vernon Lake.

On to the southeast end.

Vernon Lake. This damned white sky does NOTHING for a color picture!

Last couple of looks at Vernon

The 2nd Day's campspot. Another no-name lake. This one actually is at the top of the pass between Vernon & Ardeth. Just about 9000'.

Vernon Lake Sunset (Not my picture)
