Hagerman, ID & the Malad Gorge!
Another grand drive in Idaho! This one is a trip I did with my sister while she was here on vacation. This one was to Hagerman to see the waterfalls and to Malad Gorge.

Coming Down into the Snake River Basin from Bliss, ID

Bell Rapids

This area was labeled on the directional sign as 'Bell Rapids'. When we got here, all was saw was a lake. So where are the rapids, for cryin out loud? On the Topo, it says Bell Rapids, then notes in parantheses, (Submerged) A ways further down the river it notes a power plant. One has to assume that there is a dam as well.

One of the local residents doing a little fishing. Its a little fuzzy as it was a very long telephoto.

Hagerman Waterfalls

This water is attributed to the Big and Little Lost Rivers that disappear into the lava north of this location. Also, undoubtedly to a lot of water as well that percolates down into the lava that makes up a large portion of what is essentially a large batholith that is much of the southern portion of Idaho.

Malad Gorge
Is, well a large gorge, cut by the Malad River in a particularly frangible portion of the lava bed
in this area.
