Rapid River, near Riggins, ID
Day 1
Another grand hike in Idaho!
A bit of nature to begin a beautiful hike |
Gateway to the drainage you can see in the background. However they had configured the gate so I had to take the goat-boys up to the stock entrance. |
---|---|
Had a lot of trouble with sun flashes as we were facing the sun on the way in |
|
|
Interesting to see the trail meandering off across the hillside |
Coffee Bean checking on the hiking partner's progress. Interestingly, Coffee Bean has followed at my heels since he was months old. That has been his 'position' in the group since his very first hike |
|
First bridge, over to the east side of the river. Without these bridges you would not be going anywhere, as these rivers are not wade-able. At least not in the spring. |
|
|
And then on down below |
George stepping out smartly, hiking partner lagging... |
|
The first 4 miles of trail was good quality, and was being maintained as we were there hiking. The next 3+ miles left something to be desired. The local ranger indicated that that portion was on the list to be maintained as well, sometime later |
River has to squeeze past some granite at this point |
The bane of an amateur photog. Letting your shadow get into the picture |
Beautiful water. Clarity plus! |
