Day 3
This day began well, but as the day wore on, it got unpleasantly hot, and more and more complicated by blowdowns across the trail,
to the point that at the intersection that would lead to our nightime RON spot, it was barely navigable
.

In the morning, the first thing we did was make an abortive attempt to access Lake 8771. It is a very large and I'm certain very beautiful lake, but it was going to take way more time and effort to get to than we had, since we were on a hiking partner enforced time schedule, so we had to bail and move on with our hike.

George... getting up in the world... at least 'his' world. ;-)

The view from our campsite. We were about 30' above the lake with a panoramic view of the surrounds

Ground level view of the lake as we began to head towards Sawtooth Lake

Most all of the bodies of water had a distinct turquoise tint to the water

The lake below Sawtooth Lake, marked on the Topo as 8489'

I was fascinated by this rock. It looked gold-plated on that one end.

Beginning the trek around Sawtooth to the north end.

This picture is out of place. It is the creek out of the lake below our campsite. I like to put the 'tall' pictures side by side as they don't fit well with the others.

The last view of Sawtooth lake as we begin to cross the pass to McGown Lakes

The view from the top... the devastation of complete consumption by fire

The upper McGown Lake, 8505' on the Topo. Bet it would have looked better with green trees.

Same lake. Quite a moraine on the opposite side of the lake.

The so-called land managers offer the saying, "Green forests offer more." Do they ever!

A shallow, but very large, lake on the way down to the Trail Creek Lakes Intersection, our RON for this night.
