Gold Dust Trail
Deju Vu all over again and again. This is the third time I/we have been on this trail. It goes up and over a ridge, then around the drainage for a mile
and a half or so, then on down to Whitewater Creek, and on up the creek to a pass.

The plateau above Glenwood & Alma. Their version of an airport sits up here. A dirt runway, but you certainly don't have to worry about runway obstructions

I have always been fascinated with the layers in the rocks that time has created

The deepest of all the drainages that this trail goes through. For the dog, its a good time for wading and drinking

A look downstream as this steam blunders onward towards where it leaps off the edge of this cliff into the canyon

This water looks funny... it tastes funny too. Oh well, I'm thirsty

The striations are clearer here

This is a geological wonderland

Maxie has already been up the trail. His report: No threats ahead!

.

Maxie apparently has spent too much time around the goats

On the last stage before we get to the river. Note the rather precipitous nature of the trail at this point

We have reached Whitewater Creek, sorta, but will have to go another 1/2 mile on the barely visible trail to the far left before we actually get down to the river level

Gettin closer...

Hard to spot, but the trail actually stretches across the bottom left to the center of this picture

Sittin on a 'resting rock', 'bout as close as we're gonna get, building up our stamina for the long trek up and back

Lookin downstream, headin towards the Catwalk

This large boy most likely fell from the very tall cliffs to the south

Maxie does a lot better at keeping ahead on the trail when he knows we're goin back!

This large boy at the top gives the appearance of being rather lightly held in place

From what I see here, it isn't held in too tight. It will make quite a racket when it eventually falls

Many of the rocks that do not see direct sun are lichen covered

Not sure where this small arch is located. I only saw it on one short stretch on the trail back

Looks like something an otter would love, a granite slide

We're on the home stretch. Maxie is saying "I'm tired. Isn't there someone to carry me the rest of the way?"

The top of the last ridge. From here it is only downhill about 800 miles to the truck
