Harve Gulch, just north of Glenwood, NM
This is one of the local hikes near Glenwood. It goes down from Highway 180 down this wash to the San Francisco River. After crossing under the road
using the culvert, it goes down the wash fairly flat for about 1/2 a mile, then drops fairly rapidly through a lot of granite before it gets to the river. In spite
of the fairly low temperatures, 50s I believe, it was pretty hot coming back up this wash with the sun on the back.

It is obvious from the culvert on the right, that it isn't always this dry

Heading down into the granite and a bit of scrambling

.

Maxie is thinking 'Hey, that is a long ways down there!'

Well, it may have been a long ways, but he seems to have mastered it

What's interesting is that these rocks are a completely different type of rock than all the other type of strata in this area

This old soldier has weathered some incredible stream flows in its time. It is possible that the large rock right in front of it has give it some protection

Out of the granite

Now just a short hop around the corner to the river

An interesting formation, and just one more formation that is completely different that everything around it

The river looking upstream

Now looking downstream

A lot of granite and one lonely Yucca

On the way back up the wash. They don't stand out well, but there are quite a few Yuccas all over the top of this ridge

Back to the granite!

This one was quite intimidating to go back up. Seemed easier coming down!

Maxie is thinking that he has squeezed about as much fun as he can out of this venture

Final stretch back to the culvert

This was also more easy coming down than going up!
