Little Dry Creek Trail, Glenwood, NM
This one is sort of Deja Vu all over again as I already did 1.9 miles up this trail when I was first here, but the weather was threatening, and therefore no
pictures, as without sun, and there wasn't any, there is no color. My normal question is, 'what's the point?' This day I had sun, but as I got deeper into
this drainage, the walls closed in more and more, and therefore, no sun. Ya just can't win. Also, the woods here are pretty well trashed, and therefore
the only thing photogenic is the creek, and so this photo spread will pretty much be about the creek. Oh well...

This is the trail's beginning. Doesn't look much like a trail, but it is a 4 wheeler trail for one-half mile or so, and erosion has created this delightful walking surface.

In some places, the trail actually looked a lot like the trails I'm used to

The trail goes up in the beginning, and tops out here. Several layers of the Gila are visible here

The rock outcroppings looked a lot more yellow in the flesh. I presume that there is some sulphur in these hills

This somewhat narrow wall of rock sticks out all by itself, well into the creek

The first of the creek pictures. Hard to see in the picture, but directly above the waterfall, is a bunch of metal and other detritus that must be leftover from the mining days

Sun=color

No sun=No color

The first of the spring flowers. Ya just can't go wrong with a flower picture :-)

You can see the trail winding away from the creek in this one. What trail there is, goes back and forth across the creek, many, many times. A creek that is swollen with the rainfall that we just had last week.

Interestingly, at some distant point in the past, someone saw fit to use this wall to create some flat ground behind it. I suspect it was built a very long time ago

This old soldier is gone to his reward, and is now passing his essence back into the forest via those lichens and other things feeding on him

Obviously an old miner's cabin. It may look a little quaint from the outside, but the inside is a trash pit and hantavirus factory

From the other picture you can see that it had a fairly large porch. This apparently is the porch roof, now having given up the ghost

The cold temperatures of the last few nights have created some interesting ice sculptures. This one was my absolute favorite

An old mine. It was actually discovered by Maxie :-)

This was the last picture taken. What this picture does not show, is that once we are solidly on our way back to the truck, and Maxie is solidly aware of that fact, anytime I stop to take a picture, Maxie runs back, acting very animated, and what he is saying in essence is, "Hey, come on, we need to get back to the truck, I'm tired" :-)
