San Francisco Hot Spring
As was noted in the writeup on Turkey Creek Hot Spring, this hike was a 'bust' also, as it requires crossing the San Francisco river at
the end, and the San Francisco has more water in it right now than I have ever seen in previous trips. Since I am not particularly
keen, nor is Maxie, on swimming a fast-flowing river to achieve my arrival at the destination, we reluctantly left it for another day

Here we are at the location of 'Hope Springs Eternal'. We are already experiencing the joy of relaxing in the SF hot spring. At this point we need to get going so the body can join the imagination.

From the trail's high point, looking NNE

This ostensibly is to keep the cows from escaping. It forms a tight "U". Suffice to say that the goats didn't have any trouble getting through it. ;-)

The San Francisco River. Normally a little stream that you can get across without getting your feet wet. Today you need a boat.

The trail down to the river. Looks and feels like walking down/over a rockslide

The resident flora

Taken on our way back up to the TH. 'Hope' has now been replaced with disappointment, as we didn't even go down to the river, observing from on high that it was not today navigable on foot

The 'trail dog'. This particular trail dog is showing signs of age (similar to his owner), and may have to give up his 'trail dogging' in the foreseeable future.
