Another Great Hike/Event
Another day. Up before sunrise after a night of high winds with the tent flapping like mad and threatening to go into low-earth orbit, waking you up immediately each time you were finally able to get to sleep. Not happy!

Looking southwest towards Lordsburg across the far desert

Looking to the east this time

This one was a huh? Apparently it was being held up by the tree it was leaning against. I scurried under this one.

This one and the next three are looking west

I never noticed this one until I was looking at the pictures afterward. This log puts you in the mind of one of those deep-sea creatures with the big ugly teeth. Should have scurried by this one as well. :-)

For those interested in geology, this one was fascinating. The crocodile-like teeth sticking up from the rock are a totally different kind of strata. The processes that formed the earth are a never-ending wonder

What is this? A picture of a meadow. A picture of a meadow?? What is fascinating or scenic about a meadow? Well, since it was the only vegitated meadow of any kind that I saw in 25 miles of tramping, it takes on an interest of its own!

A cholla, apparently doing what chollas do. Since they cannot uproot and travel somewhere else to mate, they must do it by proxy. That's what the little yellow balls are about I'm thinkin.

If you've ever wondered what heaven looks like in the desert, it's this! And I had needed water long before I arrived here. So off with the pack, out with the filter, and get busy.

At first blush, these tall flouncy weeds looked quite pretty... however, after having them hanging over the trail for a mile or so, the wonder kind of wore off to "Get outta my face!"

If there is one thing that New Mexico has in abundance, it is rocks... geologic wonders popping up everywhere
