Hiking the PCT, Second Section, May 6 & 7


This was the beginning of this piece of my journey, road walking asphalt for about 3 miles. Ugh.

This little fellow seems inordinately well-armored for whatever comes his way

What this doesn't show is that the wind has come up in the extreme. It frequently shoved one into the bushes beside the trail. You would have to stop, reorient back down the trail, then continue on




This little gem is called storm canyon. One can probably assume there is a good reason for this nomenclature

Flowers are my weak point. No 'bad' flower pictures :-)

Interesting strata in this one

The geology was ever changing. This sentinel was beautifully smooth

This particular beauty was a frequent visitor to the trailside


This was taken not too long before a search for a suitable tentsite began
